MADISON, Wis. (WTAQ) - Wisconsin’s big rigs will be the focus of traffic safety checks Tuesday through Thursday. The State Patrol is taking part in the annual Roadcheck program that’s organized by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance.
The campaign is designed to make sure truckers follow the rules for driving and equipment maintenance. Officials also hope to increase the numbers of truckers wearing seat belts.
Deaths involving large trucks dropped by 12 percent in Wisconsin last year, and total crashes involving big rigs fell 21 percent.
