MADISON, Wis. (WTAQ) - Wisconsin’s corn crop is still in great shape, despite a week of below-average temperatures and scattered rains.

Almost two-thirds of the corn for grain has been chopped, well ahead of the 5-year average. Almost half the corn is mature, which is also ahead of the norm. 83 percent of the statewide crop is in good to excellent condition.

The soybean crop is also more mature than normal, and 83 percent is rated good to excellent. The potato crop is starting to be harvested in Dane County, but it’s too wet to dig in Langlade County.

Officials had no report on the potatoes in the Central Sands region.
