GRAND MARAIS, MN (KDAL) - The Cook County Sheriff is asking the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to take over the investigation involving the County Attorney, Tim Scannell. Sheriff Mark Falk says the request was made to avoid any conflict of interest in the investigation. Scannell is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 17 year old girl and a judge has now ordered him to stay away from the girl and her parents. Scannell is continuing his job as County Attorney and his lawyer says there was no crime committed.
