WASHINGTON, D.C. (KDAL) – 4th District Representative Betty McCollum’s “Hotdish A-Hmong Friends” was named the winner of the 9th Annual Minnesota Congressional Hotdish Competition on Tuesday in Washington D-C.
A panel of judges chose the winner after a blind taste test of all the entries.
There were several new contestants this year including 8th District Representative Pete Stauber who had an entry that featured large amounts of “Top the Tater”.
The event was hosted by Senator Tina Smith who says the tradition continues to get better each year and congratulated the winning creation from Representative McCollum who “really pulled out all the stops.”
The event was begun by former Senator Al Franken to put aside political labels and help bring the Minnesota Delegation together.
