DULUTH, MN (CBS-3) – The Duluth School Board met Thursday night, spending hours discussing how to safely re-open schools in the fall.
Superintendent John Magas presented his plan to the board on Tuesday.
Based on the current number of COVID cases, it called for starting the school year with a hybrid model.
Thursday night, the board voted to support that plan for elementary, middle and high schools. It means students will be in school part-time, and at home part-time.
All students will spend the first nine days of the school year distance-learning. They’ll go through welcome activities, train on the digital platforms, and learn about the COVID safety measures in place.
Families can choose to only do distance learning if they’re worried about sending their students to school.
The plan is subject to change if the number of COVID-19 cases should significantly increase or decrease.
