PARIS (Reuters) – Lebanon’s leaders should not use the explosion that destroyed parts of Beirut earlier this month as an excuse to hide the reality that the country was on the edge of a precipice, France’s foreign minister said on Tuesday.
Speaking in Marseille before a cargo of 2,500 tonnes of aid headed for Lebanon, Le Drian said French President Emmanuel Macron would soon return to Beirut to reiterate a message that Lebanese officials should not shirk their responsibilities and press ahead with vital reforms.
