HIBBING, MN (CBS-3) – An historic building in downtown Hibbing went up in flames Tuesday morning, leading to an all day firefight.
Flames broke out at The Moose Club on Howard Street around 10 a.m.
The fire was put out by about 9 p-m but crews were expected to remain on scene throughout the night to make sure no hot spots flared up.
“When you have a building of this magnitude, and the roof structure you have the amount of debris that has collapsed on stuff that is burning it’s going to smolder for a long time, said Hibbing Fire Chief Erik Jankila.
The flames caused the roof of the building to collapse.
No one was hurt, and the cause of the fire was unknown Tuesday night.
The building was known for hosting various events for decades in Hibbing.
Damage to neighboring buildings and businesses was also unknown.
Fire officials plan to head back out to the scene Wednesday morning to begin the investigation into the cause.
