DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Construction on Rice Lake Road in Duluth is wrapping up, and the road is expected to re-open Thursday by 5 p.m.
The $4 million improvement project involved reconstructing more than half a mile of Rice Lake Road, widening the intersection at Arlington Avenue and Arrowhead Road and making improvements to Technology Drive.
The project was designed to improve traffic flow and safety throughout the area, while also better accommodating pedestrians and other forms of transportation.
Work on the project was accelerated earlier this spring when it was announced that schools – specifically the nearby North Star Academy – were closing early due to the pandemic. A relatively dry summer also enabled work to proceed ahead of schedule.
Finishing work is still being done in the area, so motorists are reminded to slow down and use caution any time traveling through or near a work zone.
