DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Mayor Emily Larson has proclaimed Friday as “Red Kettle Day” in Duluth.
The Enger Tower will be lit red on Friday night to mark the start of the Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Campaign that begins Saturday.
There will be 17 Red Kettle sites in the greater Duluth area through December 24th as they collect funds to assist thousands of people in need throughout the year.
COVID-19 concerns are expected to put funds at risk this season while at the same time requests for service are at an all time high.
The goal for the Duluth Red Kettle drive is 215,000 dollars and people can help in several ways.
Besides putting cash in the Red Kettles, donations can be made by texting KETTLES to 91999, online at DuluthSA.org, rounding up purchases to the nearest dollar at Walmart and by asking Amazon Alexa to donate to the Salvation Army.
Checks can also be mailed or delivered to the Duluth Salvation Army, 215 South 27th Avenue West.
There continues to be a shortage of bell ringers and volunteers can register online or by calling 218-722-7934.
