DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – It was a record setting season for wind energy cargo in Duluth this year.
The 525,000 freight tons in 2020 surpassed the previous record of 306 thousand tons set last year.
The cargo, unloaded in Duluth was dispatched to wind energy sites around Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.
Duluth Cargo Connect managed the unloading, storage and dispatch.
Duluth Seaway Port Authority executive director, Deb DeLuca, says the wind energy cargo was a much appreciated highlight during a very difficult year for the ports under the cloud of a global pandemic.
