DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – As a reminder that ice thickness varies and needs to be checked before venturing out, two ATV’s broke through the ice Monday evening on the Fish Lake reservoir.
The two juvenile riders were able to make it back to shore safely.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office says ice should be at least 4 inches for walking, 5 or more for snowmobiles and ATV’s. Most cars and small pickups need 8 to 12 inches of ice.
