DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Duluth City Administration has announced that the Lester Park Golf Course will permanently close following the 2023 golf season.
The Administration has also tasked the Duluth Golf Committee to create a renovation and finance plan for the Enger Park Golf Course to be implemented in 2023.
Lester Park will also be closed this year and in 2022 and reopen for a final year in 2023 when Enger is undergoing a renovation.
Funds for the upgrade to Enger Park Golf Course will come from the sale of property at both courses for housing developments.
The operation of the two golf courses results in an annual 100 thousand dollar loss to the City budget.
Chief Administrative Officer, Noah Schuchman, says COVID-19 and the collapse of the economy made it clear that saving Lester is no longer feasible and the focus now turns to keeping and improving Enger.
