It’s been 701 days since UMD last played a postseason game, the 3-0 win over Massachusetts to seal the 2019 NCAA title. Many things — including this pandemic thing — have happened since then. We even have a new President. And half the UMD roster, or thereabouts, has turned over.
The list of players with ring cred, listed alphabetically according to height, and I threw in the number of games played to give you an idea of their overall level of experience:
Matt Anderson, 135 career games
Koby Bender, 81 career games
Jackson Cates, 92 career games
Noah Cates, 98 career games
Jesse Jacques, 74 career games
Cole Koepke, 100 career games
Tanner Laderoute, 93 career games
Hunter Lellig, 53 career games
Ben Patt, 0 career games
Louie Roehl, 138 career games
Jake Rosenbaum, 37 career games
Kobe Roth, 130 career games
Nick Swaney, 130 career games
Scott Sandelin talked this week about leaning on these guys for leadership, but he has also acknowledged it’s been a long time for them, too.
Hopefully it’s like falling off a bike and no one has forgotten how to do it.
Either way, I’m psyched. This is the fun time of year. So let’s have some fun and hopefully do some trophy hunting in the coming days and weeks.
I’ll be back Monday, win or lose, but hopefully with a semifinal preview as well as a look at the women’s quarterfinal game against Colgate.
7pm pregame on KDAL. Enjoy!
