ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) – Figures from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) show the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was down to 4 percent in May.
The Minnesota rate was 4.1 percent in April.
The U-S unemployment rate was 5.8 percent in May compared to 6.1 percent in April.
Employment gains were largest in the Leisure and Hospitality sector followed by Professional and Business Services.
Government, trade, transportation and utilities were all down in May.
Employment rose over the year in all Metropolitan Statistical Areas with the strongest growth in the Duluth-Superior (11.4%) and the Twin Cities (8.4%) which were hardest hit by job losses during the pandemic period.
