DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – A couple of Minnesota Department of Transportation projects in the area get underway on Monday.
Resurfacing of the roadways and parking lot at the Thompson Hill Rest Area off I-35 in Duluth begins this week.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) says work will also include the replacement of sidewalks and re-grading of the truck parking lot.
The project will be done in stages so vehicle passengers can continue to access rest area facilities.
Work also begins Monday on a temporary crossover on Highway 53 to prepare for a pavement overlay north of the Midway Road to County Road 8.
The passing lanes on both north and southbound directions will be closed and minor traffic delays can be expected during busy times of the day.
Following construction of the crossover, traffic will be switched to the northbound lanes while work is done on the southbound lanes.
MnDOT reminds drivers to pay attention and slow down in the work zones.
