DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Road construction is expected to begin Tuesday on Morris Thomas Road.
The project includes realigning the intersection with Highway 2, replacing the Keene Creek bridge, replacing multiple culverts, road resurfacing and adding a left turn lane on Highway 2 for vehicles turning onto Morris Thomas Road.
Initial work and road closure will be in the area between Trunk Highway 2 and Ugstad Road. The road closure and work will progress east towards Haines Road.
The work on Highway 2 is scheduled for mid to late August and will be completed near the end of September. The work on Highway 2 will involve lane shifts to construct the left turn lane. It will also include a new county lighting system at the intersection.
Portions of Morris Thomas Road will be closed to through traffic throughout the project, with clearly marked detours. Highway 2 will remain open for the duration of the project, though motorists are reminded to slow down and use caution anytime traveling through or near a work zone.
All work is expected to be finished by this fall.
