DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Due to work being done in the ponds behind the Erie Pier, the City of Duluth will be closing a portion of the Cross City Trail until September of 2022.
The Environmental Protection Agency and Minnesota Pollution Control Agency are conducting a sediment remediation project in the area.
Once the in-water work is complete, the trail and other impacted areas will undergo restoration and re-vegetation.
The trail will be closed off Ramsey Street below I-35 to South 40th Avenue West. A marked detour will direct users to Mike Colallio Drive and Grand Avenue.
The Duluth Cross City Trail has been partially constructed with remaining portions now in the design phase.
When complete it will be a 10.3 mile multi-purpose, non motorized trail system from the Lakewalk downtown to the Western Waterfront Trail.
