DULUTH, MN (CBS-3) – Duluth’s Mayor says her budget proposal for 2022 is steady, honest, and straight-forward as the city works to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mayor Emily Larson made her general fund 97.1 million dollar budget proposal to the City Council Monday night.
The proposal includes a 6% property tax levy increase. However, due to growth in value and the investment of federal COVID dollars, homeowners would see a little more than a one percent increase in their bills.
Larson is also proposing pulling $4 million from city reserves.
She says the budget does not add staff, new projects, or fund big projects and instead is focused on keeping the city moving forward post-COVID.
The council has until September 30 to sign off on the proposed property tax levy.
