Second Annual Dialogue in Action Series
First Lutheran Church, East Superior Street, Duluth, MN, USA
The First Lutheran Church of Duluth Foundation invites the community to its second annual Dialogue in Action Series, which is free to attend.
Scheduled for May 6, 2025, at the First Lutheran Church Sanctuary, located at 1100 E. Superior Street in Duluth, Minnesota, this event aims to foster dialogue and enhance understanding of critical social justice issues, building on the success of last year's inaugural series.
This year's event features Dr. Jemar Tisby (https://jemartisby.com), a distinguished public historian, advocate for racial justice, and founder of The Witness, Inc. Dr. Tisby is a history professor at Simmons College of Kentucky. His insightful presentations, drawn from his acclaimed works, including 'The Color of Compromise' and 'How to Fight Racism,' inspire deep reflection and proactive steps toward societal change. Dr. Tisby's latest book, The Spirit of Justice, provides a compelling narrative that explores genuine stories of faith, race, and resistance, forming the foundation for this year's discussion.
Event Highlights:
Music at the Series: The 30-minute musical prelude begins at 5:30 p.m. and features the talented Borealis Chamber Artists. Experience a diverse repertoire by local professionals, setting the perfect tone for the evening. For more information, please click on this link: www.borealischamberartists.com.
Speaker Presentation: Dr. Tisby's presentation, moderated by First Lutheran Church's Lead Pastor, Dianne Loufman, will start at 6:00 p.m. and be followed by a reception at 7:00 p.m., during which attendees can personally interact with Dr. Tisby.
Registration: Free and open to the public. You can register at https://bit.ly/flcfregister.
Additional information regarding the speaker series can be found at www.bit.ly/dialogueinaction.
This presentation is partially funded by a Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation's Unity Fund grant. More information about the fund can be found at https://www.dsacommunityfoundation.org/impact/unity-fund.
