If you’re reading this, there’s a pretty good chance you already know what is on the line this weekend for UMD, as the Bulldogs finish the regular season with a home series against St. Cloud State.
If not, here’s a quick recap: Win a game in regulation, and UMD is assured of being back here next weekend, most likely to face St. Cloud State once again (there is a nonzero chance Omaha passes SCSU in the standings and is the opponent next weekend, but the odds are very, very low). Tie both games, win one shootout, and UMD is home next weekend.
(Basically, three points by any means necessary.)
Get two points, and there are tiebreaker scenarios that will depend on whether SCSU wins a game in regulation. I’ll let the math people figure that stuff out.
Fewer than two points, and UMD is on the road next week. Again, the likely opponent is St. Cloud State, but there’s one way that it might not be. If the Huskies and Omaha both sweep their series this weekend, getting all six possible points, UMD will finish sixth and play next weekend in Kalamazoo.
Jim Carrey So You’re Telling Me There’s A Chance Dot Gif.
In all seriousness, just plan on UMD and SCSU next weekend, and let’s all hope it’s here.
For UMD, the full roster is available for selection for the first time this season. Scott Sandelin noted at his Wednesday press conference that the Bulldogs have practiced with the full roster for a couple of weeks out of the season. But this is the first time he has gone into a week with no questions about player availability. The plan all along was for everyone to be available, and everyone is. All the scratches are healthy, which is a far cry from multiple games along the way where UMD had zero healthy scratches.
Tanner Laderoute returns and reunites with Koby Bender and Jesse Jacques. In a move that could be nothing but window dressing, that line is now listed second, with the James Gang once again in the third position.
