COOK, MN (KDAL) – Minnesota State Senator Tom Bakk from Cook has announced that he is not seeking re-election and will retire at the end of the year.
Bakk is currently Chair of the Senate Capital Investment Committee as an independent and has previously served as Senate Majority and Minority Leader as part of the DFL party.
Now living on Lake Vermilion, near Cook, Bakk served four terms in the Minnesota House before being elected to the Senate for District 3 in 2003.
Bakk said that “representing the people of the Arrowhead region has been one of the greatest rewards of my life.” He says there is a lot more to be done, but it’s time for him to pass the torch to “new inspiring leaders waiting in the wings.”
