DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Minnesota Power and Lake Country Power are reporting progress in restoring power to thousands of customers following the severe storms that hit the area Monday.
Minnesota Power reduced the number of customers affected from 17 thousand to about 6 thousand by late Tuesday.
The most damage was from Little Falls north to Coleraine and from Eagle Bend east to the Crosby area.
Crews have been encountering multiple lines, poles and trees down across the region and are working to restore the larger transmission lines first before moving on to individual outages.
Lake Country Power reported 7900 members without power and is hoping to have most back online by late Wednesday.
Crews have encountered numerous broken power poles and downed trees and new outages were reported Tuesday because of the strong winds through the day.
