HERMANTOWN, MN (KDAL) – FC Minaj, a soccer team from Ukraine that finished 2nd in the USA Cup, will be hosting a soccer Jamboree at the Stebner Soccer Field Complex in Hermantown on Tuesday.
The 23 players on the team arrived in Minnesota July 7th along with 11 coaches and parent chaperones from Latvia, where they have sought refuge since the Russian attack on their homeland in February.
As part of their Ukraine Hope Tour, the team is looking to obtain expired bullet proof vests from local law enforcement agencies and to raise money for the purchase of a refurbished ultrasound machine for a Ukrainian hospital.
The Jamboree on Tuesday begins with a children’s soccer clinic from 3 to 4 p-m, a girls friendly scrimmage from 4 to 5.
From 6 to 7, a Hope for Ukraine presentation will be held a the Hermantown Community Church.
A soccer game between the FC Minaj U16 and the Hermantown U16 will be played from 7:30 to 9 p-m.
The Hope for Ukraine Tour moves on to Rochester and Blaine before they head back to Latvia.
