SUPERIOR, WI (KDAL) – An overdose remembrance and awareness event was held Thursday evening at Billings Park in Superior.
The community event addressed drug addiction and remembered those that were lost in the past year.
Superior Police responded to 49 overdose calls so far this year, a 25 percent increase from the previous year. 13 of the overdoses were fatal, the highest number ever in the city.
The department reminds everyone that oxycodone pills obtained through means other than a pharmacy likely contain dangerous fentanyl.
Those struggling with addiction can find help in the Pathways to Hope program which offers no-cost treatment options.
Contact the police department’s Coordinated Response Specialist, Jen Stank at 715-395-7374 for more information on the treatment program.
