DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – On Wednesday, Minnesota Power officials held a ribbon cutting event to dedicate their new Jean Duluth Solar project on the Riley Road.
The 1.6 megawatt solar array is the first of three projects that will total more than 20 megawatts of solar energy when completed.
The Jean Duluth Solar site was constructed on 8 and a half acres of land leased from the City of Duluth and the 3,770 solar panels will produce enough energy to power nearly 300 homes.
The other Minnesota Power solar projects are being built at the Sylvan Hydro Station near Brainerd and the Laskin Energy Center in Hoyt Lakes.
