DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission has approved a 15 year plan by Minnesota Power to be carbon free by 2050.
The power company’s Energy Forward vision will reduce carbon emissions by 80 percent by 2035 as it adds more wind and solar energy.
The plan also ceases coal power operations at the Boswell Energy Center Unit 3 by 2030 and Boswell Unit 4 by 2035.
The approved plan transitions to carbon-free energy while maintaining safe, reliable and affordable electric service for their customers.
