WASHINGTON, D.C. (KDAL) – Once again, Senator Tammy Baldwin has introduced a bill that would allow over 415,000 Packer fans in northern and western Wisconsin to watch the team on TV.
There are 13 counties in the state that are served by Minnesota stations and air the Viking games when scheduled at the same time and network as Packer games.
That includes Douglas, Ashland, Bayfield, Iron and Sawyer Counties covered by the Duluth-Superior market.
The “Go Pack Go Act” would require cable and satellite providers to provide Wisconsin subscribers with access to broadcast stations in a Wisconsin media market.
Baldwin has introduced the bill over the last several years without success.
This year, she also sent a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, asking that greater care be taken when scheduling to avoid scheduling Packer games at the same time and same network as teams from neighboring states.
She says that would ensure that every Wisconsinite can watch regular Packer TV broadcasts.
The first of several conflicts will occur this Sunday when the Duluth-Superior market station airs the Vikings-Chargers game leaving northwest Wisconsin with no local coverage of the Packers-Saints game.
