Essentia Health To Begin Safety Screening

DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Starting on Tuesday, Essentia Health’s Emergency Department will begin a screening process for those entering the primary entrance at 401 East 1st Street in Duluth.

The screening process involves placing personal items on a shelf for inspection and then standing on a special mat while turning slowly for 15 seconds.

Any prohibited items such as pepper spray, guns or knives must be left in a locked vehicle.

Essentia is beginning the screening to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.

Those patients in need of immediate care will be screened by the security team with a hand held wand when appropriate.
