DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Many area law enforcement agencies and pharmacies in the area are taking part in the National Medication Take Back Day on Saturday.
The event is designed to make it easy for people to safely dispose of un-used or expired prescription drugs and other medications.
In St. Louis County, drop boxes will be staffed at the Sheriff Offices in Virginia and Hibbing from 10 a-m to 2 p-m Saturday.
Other law enforcement agencies, including the Public Safety Building in Duluth, have secure disposal boxes that accept medications during regular business hours throughout the year.
Drop boxes are also available in the Hermantown, Proctor and Superior Police Departments.
Proper disposal of prescription drugs reduces the possibility of medication misuse, accidental poisonings and prevents water pollution or other environmental threats.
