RICE LAKE, MN (KDAL) – St. Louis County Sheriff’s deputies and area fire departments responded to a report of an explosion at a home in the 3700 block of the West Tischer Road late Thursday morning.
The residents, Jadin and Mandy Dallum, were rescued from the home by neighbors after the explosion and just before the building became fully engulfed in flames.
Jadin was airlifted and Mandy sent by ambulance to a hospital in Duluth, both with serious injuries.
Their three children were in school at the time of the explosion.
Early information indicated the furnace was being repaired at the time of the incident, but the cause of the explosion and fire are under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The residence is believed to be a total loss.
