(Reuters) – Lille were held to a goalless stalemate by Olympique de Marseille in Ligue 1 on Saturday in a game that lacked both quality and intensity at the Stade Velodrome.
Yusuf Yazici’s lob from the edge of the centre circle struck the crossbar for the visitors in the first half, while Marseille’s Amine Harit narrowly missed an opportunity from a cross just before the break.
In a lacklustre second half neither side appeared eager to make a decisive move and the match ended with the home fans booing.
Lille’s fans had been banned from travelling to Marseille for the match, with the club saying that the authorities had decided they would not be able to guarantee their safety after the Olympique Lyonnais team bus was attacked last Sunday.
The game between Marseille and Lyon was abandoned after the bus was pelted with stones on its way to the Stade Velodrome, breaking windows and injuring Lyon coach Fabio Grosso.
Lille are in fourth place with 19 points while Marseille are eighth with 13.
