DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Duluth Police Department has responded to 37 fatal opioid related overdoses already this year which surpasses the total of 35 for all of 2022.
Duluth Police and the Lake Superior Violent Offenders Task Force is working to hold the dealers of deadly opioid drugs accountable and have already seized a record number of fentanyl powder, pills and meth this year.
Police also provide resources to those impacted by Substance Use Disorders such as access to fentanyl test strips and the opioid reversal drug Narcan.
Of the 110 times that police administered Narcan, 105 were saved from overdosing.
Those encountering an overdose event are urged to call for help. There is a law in Minnesota that provides limited immunity from prosecution for the individual who overdoses and the person who calls 911.
