DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office will be holding its Citizens’ Academy starting in March for residents of the northern part of the county.
The Academy provides an inside look at the Sheriff’s Department and how it operates.
The seven week course, beginning March 19th, will be offered on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 plus one Saturday session.
Most of the classes will be held in the St. Louis County Public Works Building in Virginia with tours of various facilities including the jail and Emergency Operations Center.
County residents 18 or older can apply for the Academy and applicants will be required to pass a criminal background check.
The deadline to apply is March 1st and details can be found on the stlouiscountymn.gov/sheriff website.
The Sheriff’s Office expects to offer another Citizens’ Academy next year with classes being held in the southern part of the county.
