DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Now that spring is here, winter weather is on the way for much of Minnesota and Wisconsin.
A clipper system is expected to pass through the region Thursday night and Friday.
Northern Minnesota and Wisconsin could see an inch or so of snow but up to 4 inches is possible further south where a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued.
After a sunny and cool Saturday, a bigger, messy spring storm will impact much of the Midwest and the Twin Ports area on Sunday through Tuesday.
Accumulating snow, a wintry mix, rain, and strong winds with blowing snow will affect the area. The heaviest precipitation is expected Sunday afternoon through Monday, and some lake enhanced precipitation is also possible.
The National Weather Service says adverse travel conditions and winter storm impacts are likely during the storm.
Exact snowfall amounts and the locations of the heaviest amounts are not clear at this point but much of the area has a 60-90% chance of seeing 6 inches of snow or more.
UPDATE: On Friday morning, the National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch for a possible 10-25 inches of snow and winds gusting to 40 miles per hour from Sunday into Tuesday.
