DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Minnesota Department of Health has issued Water Contact Not Recommended advisories for several Lake Superior beaches in Duluth and up the north shore.
Water samples collected at Leif Erickson Park and the Minnesota Point harborside 15th Street beaches in Duluth, Agate Bay beach in Two Harbors, the Stewart River Beach north of Two Harbors and the Grand Marais downtown beach showed elevated E. coli bacteria levels that could indicated the presence of fecal contamination.
The beaches are re-sampled on a regular basis and updated information can be found online at the Lake Superior Beach Monitoring website – MNBeaches.org
UPDATE: As of Monday (6/10) morning only the Leif Erickson Park and Grand Marais downtown beaches remain posted.
