DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The public is invited to a Day of Remembrance at the Clayton-Jackson-McGhie Memorial at the corner of East 1st Street and 2nd Avenue East on Thursday.
The event marks the June 15th, 1920 lynching of three African American circus workers by a mob in downtown Duluth.
The memorial was constructed in 2003 at the intersection where the lynching took place to remember the victims and begin community healing.
The Day of Remembrance begins at noon and will feature several speakers and performers.
There will also be a 5:30 p-m grave site memorial for Isaac McGhie, Elmer Jackson and Elias Clayton on Friday at Park Hill Cemetery, 2500 Vermilion Road.
