DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Nature Conservancy, partnering with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the U-S Forest Service, has planted 2.3 million trees in northern Minnesota this spring.
That number tops the previous yearly record of 1.4 million in 2023.
Over the last two decades, the Nature Conservancy planted over ten million trees in the state.
A diverse array of trees were selected for planting to ensure resilience and longevity in a warming world. They include various types of pine, spruce, birch, oak and other species.
The trees were planted in Lake, St. Louis, Cook, Cass and Itasca Counties including along Highway 61, the Chippewa and Superior National Forests and along streams that flow into Lake Superior.
