DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – As dry conditions continue across the northland, the Superior National Forest has issued an emergency order restricting campfires in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA).
Effective Tuesday, campfires, wood burning stoves and charcoal grills will be restricted to reduce the chances of a wildfire.
The restrictions will remain in place until further notice.
Gas or propane cook stoves are still allowed.
Since the potential for wildfires are high across northern Minnesota, people are also asked to be careful with other sources of ignition such as smoking devices and recreational vehicles.
