The wait is over.
203 days after the 2023-24 season ended in Denver, UMD is back. Reloaded, rebuilt, and ready.
For a team with 11 freshmen (eight of them dressed for this game) and a lot of guys with offensive flair as displayed at their previous stops, an opponent like Bemidji State is a very good one to kick things off.
The Beavers — defending CCHA regular season champions — give little and are great at feeding off adversarial mistakes. This will be a good taste of what life in the NCHC is like basically every night.
UMD has decisions to make as long as players are healthy. Five skaters — a full extra forward line and two defensemen, provided they dress seven defensemen — will have to be scratched every game. Let’s keep it that way as long as possible, OK?
Zach Sandy vs Mattias Sholl.
Let’s have some fun.
