As the NCHC season begins, UMD continues the search for progress. Head coach Scott Sandelin believes his team has gotten better, but there’s no doubt injuries are a setback.
The Bulldogs will operate this weekend without two legitimate top nine forwards, one of whom (Max Plante) is unquestionably in the top six, and another (Jack Smith) who could be.
Yes, North Dakota is down three defensemen, but its top line center, Cameron Berg, is back as expected for this game. Hopefully we see him matched up against UMD captain Dominic James, as that could be a fun watch this weekend.
