DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – September of 2024 was the busiest month on record for the Duluth International Airport.
There were over 17 thousand flight operations that month topping the previous record in August by more than 2 thousand.
The Duluth Airport is seeing increased passenger movement and also strengthening its position as a vital hub for cargo, military and flight training operations plus medical and research and development flights.
Airport Executive Director Tom Werner says for this growth to sustain, further assistance from state and federal sources are needed to replace the aging 70 year old air traffic control tower.
He says a new tower is essential in managing the increasing volume of flights safely and efficiently.
