DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – As the holiday season is wrapping up, the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD) in Duluth has begun their annual “Treecycling” program.
The free Christmas tree recycling program offers multiple drop off sites throughout the region including the Yard Waste Compost and Materials Recovery Center, Chester Park, Lester Park, Duluth Heights Community Club, Woodland Community Club, the Rose Garden and the Spirit Mountain Grand Avenue Chalet all in Duluth.
Trees are also being recycled at the Vonco V Landfill, SAPPI Fine Paper in Cloquet and the Moose Lake Compost Site.
The WLSSD reminds those recycling fresh cut trees to remove all ornaments, lights and tree stands before dropping off the trees. Flocked trees are not accepted and wreaths, garland and other evergreen decorations with wires are not recyclable and should be thrown in the trash.
Most of the Duluth “Treecyling” sites will be open through January 10th and the yard waste compost site will accept trees through the end of January.
