DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Insufficient snow and icy terrain along the course has prompted the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon Board of Directors to postpone the race until March 2nd.
Board President Mike Keyport says the decision was made to ensure the safety and well-being of the dogs, mushers and everyone involved.
The 40th running of the 300 mile race from Duluth to Grand Portage was originally scheduled for late January. The new date will allow for anticipated improved conditions and additional snowfall.
