Off a strong performance Tuesday night in Bemidji, UMD will try to keep the good vibes going, but the challenge faced from Alaska this weekend is a stiff one.
Since starting the season 0-4 with sweeps by Penn State (home) and Michigan Tech (road), Alaska has picked up at least one win or draw each weekend. They split at Notre Dame, won/tied at Clarkson, won/tied at Union, split at Alaska-Anchorage, lost/tied at Minnesota, split with Augustana, and split last weekend at the Kwik Trip Holiday Faceoff in Milwaukee (lost to UConn before beating Ferris State).
The Nanooks don’t fill the net (37 goals in 14 games), but they play hard defensively and have gotten quality goaltending, mainly from Nicholas Grabko, but Lassi Lehti has played well in a couple recent starts as well.
For UMD, no changes from Tuesday. Adam Gajan and Joe Molenaar remain out.
