DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – A study commissioned by the University of Minnesota Extension and the Northeastern ATV Joint Powers Board revealed a significant economic impact by ATV riders in the region.
According to the study, ATV riders contribute an estimated 36.1 million dollars in economic activity to St. Louis, Lake and Koochiching counties.
The riders support a wide range of industries including hospitality, retail, transportation and outdoor recreation.
The research also highlighted the long term benefits from investing in ATV trails and other tourism infrastructure.
The study notes that northeastern Minnesota stands poised to become a top destination for outdoor enthusiasts including ATV tourism.
The report says local governments, tourism agencies and business owners need to continue collaborating on ways to promote ATV tourism and ensure sustainable growth for the region.
