COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Nothing has come easy for either UMD or Colorado College this season. The teams enter this weekend series tied for seventh in the NCHC at 13 points apiece. But that only tells part of the story.
UMD started 3-7 and has only recently steadied itself a bit with a 3-1-1 run since break ended. Colorado College jumped out of the gates 8-0 before the ongoing 2-9-1 stretch that has knocked the Tigers well out of NCAA Tournament consideration.
(The Bulldogs and CC are tied for seventh in the NCHC, while the PairWise shows UMD 33rd and Colorado 34th.)
The Bulldogs are a bit short-handed this weekend. Forwards Harper Bentz and Carter Loney both left Saturday’s game and did not make the trip. Only 20 skaters are healthy for UMD, with 19 of them getting into the lineup for the series opener.
