HAYWARD, WI (KDAL) – The 51st Annual American Birkebeiner ski race is set for February 19th through the 23rd and organizers are preparing for a traditional Cable to Hayward event this year.
Although conditions this year are better than 2024, at this time the entire 53K trail does not have sufficient snow cover to accommodate the nearly 12 thousand skiers expected at the various Birkie events.
According to the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation Executive Director, Ben Popp, snowmaking operations in Cable have stockpiled enough snow to hold the Birkie in some form.
Final course course decisions will be made in the coming weeks and updates will be made each Monday starting February 3rd at birke.com and on Facebook and YouTube.
