CARLTON, MN (KDAL) – The 26th year of a three day snowmobile ride to raise money for ALS is underway.
The Black Woods Blizzard Tour began at the Black Bear Casino Resort and will stop at Fortune Bay at Lake Vermilion and Grand Rapids before heading back to the Black Bear Casino on Saturday.
The single largest snowmobiling fundraiser in the world has set a goal of over 2 million dollars this year to help support those living with ALS and their caregivers.
Since it began, the annual event has raised nearly 23 million dollars.
Once again, Minnesota Twins legends Terry Steinbach and Kent Hrbek will participate in the event. Both have lost fathers to the disease and have long been involved in the fight against ALS.
The 265 riders will attend the Celebration Dinner and Auction on Saturday at Black Bear which is also open to the public from 5 to 10 p-m.
