EVELETH, MN (KDAL) – Information sent to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension led to the arrest of an Eveleth resident this week.
52 year old Christopher John Chad was taken into custody on March 18th on a felony arrest warrant from Fulton County, Georgia for alleged obscene internet contact with a child.
Investigators determined he lived in Eveleth and worked at Rock Ridge High School. Law enforcement questioned Chad on March 6th and collected evidence, but did not make an arrest at that time.
A separate investigation unrelated to the Georgia case has been opened by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department into Chad for allegedly receiving child sexual abuse material. Authorities say there is no reason to believe that there are any local victims.
Chad is being held at the St. Louis County jail pending extradition.
