The advisory for freezing rain, snow and sleet is in effect from 10 a-m Friday to 1 a-m Saturday in Minnesota and from 7 p-m Friday to 7 a-m Saturday in Wisconsin. DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – An early spring storm is expected to affect the Northland with a combination of snow, freezing rain and strong winds from late Thursday night through Saturday morning.
The National Weather Service Office in Duluth has issued a Winter Storm Watch for northeast Minnesota and a Winter Weather Advisory for far northern parts of the state.
The freezing rain could accumulate to a quarter inch of ice especially along the higher terrain of the North Shore from Duluth to Silver Bay and inland areas of Lake County and central St. Louis County.
Snow up to 6 inches is possible in the tip of the Arrowhead with lesser amounts elsewhere.
Strong east winds are also expected and, in combination with the ice accumulations, could result in some power outages.
The mixed precipitation could also impact the morning and evening commutes on Friday by causing slippery road conditions.
